On June 21st, Professor Jason Johnson (Trinity University) published an Op-Ed in the Washington Post. The article, “The truth neither side wants to admit: President Trump’s wall will work, but it will mean America has failed,” discusses parallels between calls for a border wall in the United States and the real border wall that literally divided the 20th century German village of Mödlareuth. Professor Johnson’s monograph about the history of Mödlareuth—Divided Village: The Cold War in the German Borderlands—was recently published by Routledge.
